Our wonderful housekeeping team have raised over £1,000 for Broadway Lodge!
Earlier this year, Emma, Julie and Mandy (pictured above) set a goal to raise £1,000 before Christmas and they’ve been on a mission ever since.
Not only are they amazing cleaners, but they all have a creative flair and a talent for baking. In the last few months they held two bake sales, working their socks off until midnight each time to whip up the fluffiest cupcakes, deliciously creamy cheesecakes and a variety of other mouth-watering sweet treats. The bakes were presented and packaged beautifully for clients, staff and the refurbishment contractors to purchase for donations. The May bake sale raised £186 and in July they raised a further £230.92 from their bakes (supported by our cooks Matt and Caroline too!). Below is a snippet of the incredible array of treats that were made.
In addition to the bake sales they have been busy selling unwanted clothing, homeware and antique furniture which has taken them above the donation target to £1,000.73.
On top of this, Mandy, who is a dab hand at all things crafts, donated two bespoke cushions last week (pictured below), which she made herself. The hare and fox theme is a nod to the heritage of the Broadway Lodge building which was originally built in the 1700’s and used as a hunting lodge. You can see that the detail of the stained glass in our entrance hall reflects this heritage too.
The work that the team have put in has gone above and beyond – it takes a lot of time and effort to coordinate the initiatives and manage the sale of items online. These ladies deserve a huge thank you as well as everyone else who has been involved in the bake sales and those who have kindly made donations.
