More team members trained in Auricular Acupuncture

Last month six employees from the medical and health support teams were trained to practice Auricular Acupuncture, an ancient holistic treatment which is known to have a variety of positive effects on wellbeing. All trainees successfully passed their assessment last weekend and have received their certificates.

At Broadway Lodge, Auricular Acupuncture has become an extremely popular treatment partly due to the extent to which it aids relaxation. It’s an optional treatment in the programme which is available to clients at fixed times during the weekly schedule and also available before bedtime to quieten the mind, encourage healing and aid a restful sleep. Training additional employees in the practice means that it can be offered frequently, both in group settings and to individuals. Being able to integrate holistic therapies with the intensive therapeutic programme at such an emotional time for clients is really important.

What is Auricular Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is argued to be one of the oldest healthcare treatments in the world. It is a very safe treatment that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to remedy any blockages in the body’s energy flow (aka ‘chi’ or ‘qi’) in order to restore balance and trigger the body’s healing response. At Broadway Lodge Auricular Acupuncture is available to clients daily. This practice focuses on needles being inserted into specific points in each ear followed by a mindfulness session whilst needles are still in place.  It is helpful in reducing cravings and easing withdrawal symptoms and other benefits can include pain relief, calming nerves, improving respiratory and digestive problems, easing headaches and enabling deep relaxation.
