Job Vacancy – Twilight Health Care Assistant

Location: Weston-super-Mare

Pay:  £13.34 per hour

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Hours of Work: Week One: 14 hours (Monday – Thursday, 7.30pm – 11pm), Week Two: 10.5 hours (Friday – Sunday, 7.30pm – 11pm)

 

We are currently seeking a Twilight Health Care Assistant to join our medical team and provide evening cover at our residential rehabilitation centre in Weston-super-Mare.

Since 1974, our multidisciplinary team has helped transform the lives of thousands of people, supporting recovery from addiction to alcohol, illicit drugs, prescription drugs, gambling, sex, and gaming. We are now looking to recruit an experienced and compassionate Health Care Assistant to support our busy medical team during evening twilight hours. The successful candidate will promote high standards of care and understand the importance of creating a kind, safe and compassionate therapeutic community, delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Supporting clients through their treatment journey at Broadway Lodge can be both meaningful and rewarding.

 

Job Purpose

  • Provide healthcare support at Broadway Lodge as part of the clinical team
  • Deliver direct patient care and support in a variety of clinical settings
  • Maintain excellent standards of care for residents undertaking a 12-step treatment programme
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with clients, carers and colleagues
  • Contribute to a clean, safe and welcoming environment

 

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Support the medical team with medication delivery, medicine management and clinical observations, reporting appropriately to the clinical team
  • Assist clients with the administration of medication and maintain accurate medication records and audits
  • Maintain accurate client records and databases in a timely manner
  • Support the maintenance of a clean, orderly and safe building
  • Promote compassionate, therapeutic values within the treatment environment
  • Complete general administrative duties as required
  • Ensure clients adhere to programme rules, including undertaking substance testing where necessary
  • Support clients in developing and following achievable recovery plans
  • Assist clients in attending external appointments, including transport support or accompaniment when required
  • Support clients with the practical aspects of daily therapeutic living
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of client interventions, both individually and in group settings
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Nurse on duty

All duties must be carried out in accordance with:

  • Company policies, procedures and guidelines
  • CQC and other regulatory requirements
  • Relevant legislation

This includes strict adherence to information governance, confidentiality, diversity, health and safety and medication control standards.

 

Experience and Skills

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Has at least 1 year’s experience working in health or social care
  • Has experience in substance misuse services (desirable but not essential)
  • Holds an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (desirable)
  • Demonstrates empathy, compassion and a non-judgmental approach
