Family messages of gratitude

When people arrive at Broadway Lodge to begin their recovery journey, they are often at rock bottom. But addiction affects everyone around that person too. As well as seeing the positive changes to the individual as they progress through treatment, we often hear from their loved ones, especially after treatment completion, who often feel incredible relief, happiness and gratitude (among many other emotions) for being able to have their loved one back.

It’s heart warming when relatives send us messages of how they feel once the person who stayed at Broadway is back in their lives. We’ve received many in the last year and we wanted to publish some of them, which can be read below.

Today my husband and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. That would not have been possible without the treatment, help and support my husband received when he stayed at Broadway Lodge for 4 weeks last year. We had separated after his addictions took complete control over his every action and thought. Making it impossible for me to continue our marriage. He came to Broadway in a desperate attempt to win me back but what he found was a way of finally understanding himself and his actions and patterns of behaviour. He has just passed the 6 month mark of no drugs, no gambling, no alcohol. An absolute bloody miracle!! Not only that, he is kinder, more patient, a much more attentive Dad and husband, a more consistent dedicated employer and a general all round wonderful man that I had always believed he could be. We both know that this is not the end but only the beginning of a different chapter in our lives. Not only did you help him but your family days were extremely helpful for me. You also pointed me in the direction of Famanon which was a really supportive place for me to go. I just wanted to say a very sincere thank you to all the help we received at Broadway Lodge. From the moment he first contacted you, to the aftercare he has received since he left has been invaluable. We certainly wouldn’t have been celebrating 10 years of marriage today without you! So thank you, thank you, thank you! I hope you can continue to help others like my husband and their families.

To everybody at Broadway, Thank you for all the time, love and effort you have all put in to help my husband see the amazing person he is. It’s been a life changing 14 weeks and we will always stay in touch. Thank you for looking after the most precious thing to me.

To all the staff at the Lodge, Thank you for all you have done for my son, I don’t know how he or any of his family would have coped without you. Thank you for finding a place for him to stay (in Bristol). I don’t know how long he is going to be there for, but I hope he continues with all the hard work and commitment you have shown him. Many thanks again, from his mum.

To the entire team at Broadway Lodge! Thank you so much for all that you have done for our son, you are all very special people and we are indebted to you all. See you soon.

To all the staff at Broadway Lodge. I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for your help with my brother. Your dedicated support and amazing work you do is so appreciated. Thank you
