Ex-client publishes fictional story

On the eve of his one-year sobriety, ex-client Jeremy has released a fictional short story, ‘It’s Only a Game’ which he began writing whilst staying at Broadway Lodge last year and it’s now freely available to read on Medium.com (click here to read).

For this short story Jeremy was inspired by authors like Dick Francis and Lee Child and he says “there’s a real enjoyment from the whole concept of good versus evil…For me, it is a dream come true, to be able to have just tapped into some dark stuff and put it out there.”

Whilst in our extended treatment programme (a stage where clients continue to live on site but have more independence), Jeremy enrolled in a creative writing course in Weston-Super-Mare where he found his spark to pursue this hobby which he describes as his ‘escape’. This passion for writing is a great example of how talents and interests can be rediscovered in recovery.

He also recently sent us ‘A Life in Third’ which documents his experience is of living in our Third Stage house in Bristol which can be read here.
