Blog and events Our Blog From Volunteer Support Worker to Mental Health Nurse Angharad (Harri) joined Broadway Lodge as an enthusiastic volunteer in 2014. She quickly proved herself to be a hardworking, dedicated, committed and supportive volunteer. She was successful in securing a permanent part time role where she honed her skills as a support worker. She developed a real enthusiasm and passion for understanding and supporting patients with a Mental Health diagnosis. Harri decided to attend university and complete a Degree in Mental Health Nursing, whilst working part time and juggling a family. Most people would say that this is the norm these days? Well, not when you’ve got auto immune disease and severe arthritis to deal with as well. However, she successfully completed her degree in July 2017 and qualified as Mental Health Nurse and now has her PIN. Sadly, she made the decision to leave Broadway to join the NHS, however, our loss is their gain as she demonstrated skills and abilities that will carry her very far in her new career. One of the repeated quotes from the patients at Broadway was how welcoming she was to them in helping them settle into the Broadway routine. Her smile often made them feel better on the difficult days. Harri has agreed to do bank shifts at Broadway Lodge so we are not losing her completely, however, the staff and the patients couldn’t be more proud of her success and achievements. Well done and good luck for the future, Harri.
