With the stark reduction of statutory funding for addiction, we at Broadway Lodge are always looking for new, innovative ideas to raise funds to support our patients. Our very own Jane Johnson, based in our Patient Support department, came up with two novel ideas.

Firstly, Jane noticed that many of the patients were arriving for treatment without the essential items and could not access these from a local shop straight away so she came up with the idea of a 'shop' to provide these essential items.

Jane also sells items such as bookmarks, posters and stationary which can raise a few extra pennies. The 'shop' is run not for profit, however since its inception last October 2016 she has raised over £100.00, all of which goes back into supporting our patients.

We recently held a competition for generating fundraising ideas and Jane won this competition with her idea for a cake sale. Broadway’s staff love cakes so it was a great way of embracing the love for cake and raising funds at the same time.

Jane is a great cake maker and she also asked our patients in our second stage treatment if they would like to be involved and they got very busy baking cakes. Staff were also encouraged to bring in cakes baked at home and our catering staff made some fantastic cakes for the sale.

Jane took on the responsibility of running a cake sale over three consecutive months and raised £170.00.

As the saying goes 'every penny counts' and Jane has worked hard to bring in additional pennies to support our patients in treatment.

A big Broadway Lodge thank you to Jane.
