Broadway Lodge launches Save the Roof Fund and Memorial Garden!
SAVE THE ROOF FUND
Due to ageing and the severity of weather last year, the roof at Broadway Lodge has started to fail with the result that several tiles have recently fallen off and damp has seeped in to a couple of the bedrooms. In response the Board of Trustees has commissioned a report to determine the extent of the problem and the cost of repairs. An initial costing to rectify the situation has estimated a figure of £200,000. In order to pay for repairs we have decided to devote our fund raising efforts in 2012 to SAVING THE ROOF.
Several projects to raise funds that staff and trustees will be undertaking are already planned for the year and include a parachute jump by 10 staff members, the annual Chief Executive’s Challenge and following the success of last year’s event, a Golf Day. One of the ways that you could help us is by ‘buying’ one or more roof tiles at £10 each. Any further suggestions, offers of help and/or donations to this fund will be much appreciated and will be necessary to help us achieve our target.
MEMORIAL GARDEN
A suggestion was made by family members last year that we give some consideration to establishing a memorial to those people that have lost their lives due to addiction. With this in mind we would like to set aside a section of our garden for this purpose and to plant and design an area with engraved plaques. In doing so we intend to create a fitting tribute to those we have known and loved, and to provide an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge those people bereaved by this illness. We would hope to have this project well underway by the time of our Reunion on 15th September this year.
To cover the costs of constructing the memorial garden and the cost for a plaque with engraving, we are seeking donations of £50 or more.
